I've put Omarchy (as of Sept 2025) on a 2015 Macbook Pro, 15".
What a sweet deal! I've used linux for decades, tried a dozen or more distros, (some of which I ran for 8-10 years without rebooting) and even a few BSDs (which I heartfully wish I could love.) (I am, after all, a Unix guru from very way back.)
Omarchy is it. It's the desktop linux I been waiting for. And while I know the point of many linux is "you can tinker with it endlessly", I'm of an age where I'd rather not. And Apple, well, my main personal computer is currently an M4 Air, and it's delightful. Baby needs new shoes.
But my ancient SunOS and NeXTStep roots always niggle me into wanting keep up with linux, which after all, is the greatest open source project of all time. (IMNSHO).
And Omarchy, well, yes! I like the menu system, I like the ease of installation, I like the smoothness of everything. Now, admittedly, I am running it on a octo-core i7, with 16GB of ram, but still, it's plenty fast for the various weekend projects I tend to waste my time poking at.
And it's beautiful. Since you have an old laptop over there, some x64_86 box just collecting dust, I'd suggest you spend an afternoon giving it a try.
